Privacy Policy

Bookend for Audiobookshelf · Last updated: November 4, 2026

In short

Bookend does not collect any personal data. The app has no analytics, no advertising and no tracking, and it sends no data to the developer.

The app

Bookend is a client for Audiobookshelf media servers. You choose the server yourself. Everything the app needs to work stays on your device or goes only to that server:

Your server is operated by you or by its administrator. Their privacy policy applies to the data stored there; the developer of Bookend has no access to it.

The app loads nothing from other parties. Links inside an e-book open in your web browser. If an e-book itself references images on the internet, the reader may load them from that address, just like a browser would.

Apple

The App Store and the operating system are provided by Apple. If you have agreed to share analytics and crash reports with app developers in your device settings, Apple gives the developer anonymous crash reports and usage figures. These are governed by Apple's privacy policy.

This website

This website uses no cookies, no analytics and no external fonts or scripts. When you open a page, technical data such as your IP address, the time, the requested page and your browser's user agent are processed automatically in order to deliver the page and protect it against abuse (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). Our web server keeps these access logs for no longer than 14 days.

Two service providers are involved, each processing data on our behalf under a data processing agreement:

Contact by email

If you write to us, we use your email address and message only to answer you (Art. 6(1)(b) and (f) GDPR) and delete them when the matter is settled, unless the law requires us to keep them.

Under the GDPR you have the right to access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability and to object to processing. You can also lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority.

Changes

If the app or this website changes how data is handled, this policy will be updated and the date above changed.
